Camp Theme - My Heritage, My Story
Participants will learn:
Core modules and foundational content about built heritage, traditional building techniques and basketry
As part of their language skills development, research and interviewing skills about their family history and the creation of family trees

OVERVIEW
This Camp will provide rural St. Elizabeth children ages 6-11, with arts and heritage instruction as part of a well-rounded education.
The 2021 Virtual Camp will build on the Collective’s 2020 installment where students received 2 weeks of Arts & Language instruction. The program’s activities are designed to facilitate collaboration among children, teachers, parents and community artisans in fun & interactive ways.
Teacher focused session will target primary school teachers to support their skilful incorporation of folk and traditional arts and heritage to enhance overall curriculum delivery.

PROGRAM (Topics: Basketry & Traditional Building Techniques)
Launch Event (participants receive instructional workbooks/kits--N.B. COVID-19 health measures will be in full effect)
A 2 week virtual camp (1 week of daily instructional videos, 1 week application & preparation for Online Arts & Heritage competition)
Online Arts & Heritage Competition: Participants use information from Week 1 to create visual and aural presentations/projects, e.g. video presentations, poetry, posters and stories on architectural practices and their social context.

A festive launch event hosted at the Potsdam Community Centre to include WARE Directors providing context to the project. Packages/Kits will be provided and all participants registered. Staggered to manage numbers and address COVID-19 concerns.
